The Cousins by Karen M. McManus (4/5)

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus is a mystery novel that follows the three Story cousins, who are suddenly invited to spend the summer at their grandma’s resort. The cousins, Jonah, Milly, and Aubrey, haven’t seen each other since they were little, and they have never met their grandma, who disinherited their parents before they were born. One day, each cousin receives a letter from their grandmother, inviting them to spend the summer working at her resort, shocking everyone. The parents are adamant about their children spending the summer with their grandma in hopes of them becoming re-inherited. The moment the cousins step foot on the island, they know something isn’t right, and they have chosen to find out their parents’ secrets and what caused them to be cut off from their grandmother.

The story is captivating from the very beginning, and it causes the reader to speculate about the secrets the parents are hiding from the children. The book was very engaging, and it has many plot twists that will keep you hooked. The secrets that become uncovered are bound to keep the reader interested and wanting to read more. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I loved being able to uncover the secrets of the Story family.
