The Cruel Prince-Holly Black

Jude Duarte was taken into the land of Faerie with her sisters Taryn and Vivi by the man who murdered their parents. Since then,  she has found a new life in Faerie, and has been training to become a knight and to become involved in the political state of the kingdom. However, while she attempts at glory and power, she is constantly held back by her enemies and family. Through the course of the book, she learns just how much power she is capable of, and how much she has. She soon finds what she is able to manipulate in order to protect the people in her life she cares for most, even if it means betraying others who care for her.  I wasn’t sure how I felt about the book in the beginning, but later in the book it got more interesting. It was pretty slow but it makes it easier to see how much the characters change just throughout the first book. Overall it was good, I would definitely recommend reading the prologue, it’s really important.
