The story begins in the Louvre Museum in France, where an albino monk by the name of Silas captures the curator of the Louvre, and demands to know the location of the Holy Grail. This monk is a member of the Opus Dei religion, which is a real thing. Opus Dei is a sect of Christianity who aim to serve God not just through spiritual acts, but also who they act in their home and work lives. The curator, Jacques Saunière, tells him the location, but lies about it. Silas shoots Jacques, and Jacques writes a hidden message to the protagonist, Robert Langdon. Robert rushes to France to find the culprit, however the police suspect Robert, as Jacques wrote a note saying, “P.S, find Robert Langton.” Robert, and the curators daughter, Sophie Neveu then team up to find this mysterious killer, as well as recover the Holy Grail. All the while, the monk, Silas, is searching for the Holy Grail himself. He eventually realizes that the location was not the real place, and looks for the Holy Grail elsewhere. I really enjoyed this book. It included things like action, adventure, as well as a lot of history. The main point of the book was a treasure hunt, which a lot of Dan Brown’s books include, and this is something that I really like reading. I would really recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure or historical fiction novels. Dan Brown has written a lot of other books, and the Da Vinci Code even has a movie. All in all, this book was very good, and if you find that you enjoy this type of book, some of Dan Brown's other works include Angels and Demons, Inferno, and Origin. All of these books have the same main character, a man named Robert Langdon. He is a professor at a college, and he teaches typology. Dan says that Robert is the type of man he wishes to be.
