The Darkness Outside Us is by best-selling author Eliot Schrefer and was published in June of 2021, so pretty recent. It follows the life of Ambrose Cusk as he goes on a mission to save his sister Minerva. She recently landed on one of Saturn’s moons, titan, and sent a distress signal to Hq. What Ambrose doesn’t know is that there is another person on his ship. I think this book was absolutely a thriller. The detail in the space science is amazing and the way the character interact makes you able to empathize with them completely. I had many moments when reading where I had to pause and cringe from secondhand embarrassment or silently cheer as something good happened. If you do read this book, I recommend reading it in as little time as you can or remembering most plot points, because the farther you get into the book the more complicated the situation gets if you don’t remember them.
