‘The Hate U Give’ is a book about racial inequality, especially between minorities and cops. The book is in the first-person view of Starr, a girl who lives in Garden Heights, where she goes through an experience that ultimately changes her life forever, and is a big relationship changer. This book has to be one of the best books I’ve ever read, especially since it connects with everything that’s happening recently. The book was only written in 2017, which just shows you how relevant these topics still are today, which mainly focuses on racism and the society we, as humans, created around it. As you read, many emotions can flow through your head and it’s a really fun/interesting read because of how relevant the slang or topics are. I would love for anyone and everyone to take some time to read this book. One thing I love that the author reference is a saying from Tupac Shakur, which is T.H.U.G.L.I.F.E, and it stands for: The Hate U Give Little Infants F***s Everyone.
