“The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien was a novel that was heavily focused on fantasy characters. Many of the characters referenced or used were things liked from fantasy games. Bilbo the protagonist, was a hobbit who needed to complete an adventure that he had never experienced before with 12 dwarves and 1 wizard. It was for the dwarves who were going back to get the riches that Smaug the dragon wrongly had. Since the fallen town from Smaug the dragon was so far away, it made for rough travel and unexpected events for the adventurous. Overall, I felt that the book was decent and entertaining, however, the novel was a little predictable through times while reading and felt a tiny bit rushed, but it was still exciting reading about Bildo’ s clutch moments where he proved to the dwarves he was useful. The book was great but I did not read anything that I found super groundbreaking about it while reading. As somebody who is into fantasy and plays fantasy games, the author J.R.R Tolkien was definitely informed on fantasy and all the creatures that are involved. It made for a better reading experience since the author knew what he was doing feeling assured that this book was an accurate experience in the fantasy world. I do still wish there were some more creatures and more encounters with creatures that were not just big hairy spiders which again relates to this book feeling somewhat rushed which is unfortunate. I did like how all the characters had personality to them and expressed different things with different words feeling accurate to the real word even though it was confusing at times. I would absolutely recommend this book as an easy read to any fantasy lover but know that this book is not the most groundbreaking if you are into fantasy. As someone who is not into fantasy, the book is not too difficult to understand and does not assume you know things about the creatures and monsters. I would still recommend this to someone who does not know too much in fantasy.
