The book The Hobbit written by J.R.R. Tolkien is about the story of a young Bilbo Baggins who found himself on an adventure with a group of dwarfs led by Thorin Oeakanshield and a Wizard by the name of Gandalf. The whole book revolves around them trying to reclaim their kingdom in the mountains and the gold inside guarded by the dragon Smaug. The journey has its difficulties, surprises, and drawbacks with action behind every encounter. I thought the book was very well written and full of detail on every page. It was, however, a bit difficult to get into in the beginning as it started off pretty slow but once you got past the first chapter it got better. A big theme in this book I would say is definitely greed not only of the dragon but of the dwarves themselves. Another theme is also Bilbo realizing that even though he has everything he could ask for, others don’t, and just generally his character development throughout the novel. Conventionally I believe that people should give this book a chance because it really does kind of change the way you view things and it definitely changes the way you view movies. Although the movies are based on the book the novel just has so much more detail and character to it. It's also written with a lot of wits and thought behind each character or visual detail. The book also uses a lot of imagery to really draw the reader into what is happening in the story. It almost feels like you are with them on the journey. There are also parts that have the ability to get the reader at the edge of their seat with great intensity to the way it is written. Some of the parts of the book can also make you really sad and the book can overall affect your mood through the chapters and pages. Humor is also a big part of this even in some serious situations the author can make you laugh. To summarize everything that has been stated so far, this book is definitely worth reading if you are willing to get past the slightly slower beginning of the story.
