The Hunger Games is one thrilling book to read. It was written by Suzanne Collins and takes place in a dystopian world where governments have failed and now there is a thing called the hunger games. The Hunger Games are games that take place annually where there are 12 districts and two tributaries from each district. These games occur as they are entertainment for the capitol and project sternness over the peasants to scare off rebellions. We are introduced to our main character Katniss and her family. Her Dad was killed in mining accident and her sister is named Pim. They live in distinct 12, which is described as very poor and a mining district. At the start of the book, Katniss is this loving young girl along with her sister. But her sister is one of the unlucky few to be selected to become a tributary for her sector. Instead of Pim going, the innocent Katniss volunteers herself in replacement of her little sister to save her life. This one event spirals into a completely different timeline. It takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions with love, anger, happiness, and timidness all emotions I felt while reading this book. All this emotion does not go without changing our main character too. Katniss is an extremely brave and fearless young girl who shows a loss of innocence. At the start of the book, she still has this innocence to her, she just wants to protect her little sister, but after all that happens she is a different woman. She is even more brave and clever as she has many new tools and she did find a way to cheat the system. Over all this was an incredible read, up there with some of the best books. As I mentioned before, the plot was incredibly thrilling and gave me many doses of adrenaline. Collins' use of imagery throughout this book really does tie it all together like when she described the clothes Katniss and Peeta were wearing. All in all, I do recommend this book to all people, it is a relatively easy read with a perfect amount of actions, love and fear.
