The Hunger Games Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (5/5)

Suzanne Collins' brilliant imagination helps to paint an amazing picture and keeps readers hooked throughout the entire book. The Hunger Games Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is a science fiction book that was published in 2009. It is a part of a series starting with The Hunger Games. I think that it is important to read the first book before moving onto Catching Fire because it helps to paint the picture of where the next book starts. In the previous book we just learned that the main characters Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have just won the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are a ‘game’ that the Capitol puts on every year to remind the twelve districts that they are the ultimate power. Each year 2 tributes are selected from each district starting at one going all the way to twelve. Katniss and Peeta are both from district twelve which is the poorest of all of the districts. They both get selected to play in a ‘game’ to the death where they are put into an arena with the other tributes where they have to fight to the death. There is normally only one winner, but they found a loophole and both got out alive, therefore, they are promised safety from the capitol. They go around traveling to go to every district to speak and Katniss has sparked a rebellion against the capitol. This causes the capitol to change their mind about their safety promise and the quarter-quell the seventy-fifth hunger games are this year. For this game they decide to choose from the existing pool of winners from each district and put them into the arena to fight to the death. Who will come out on top? Will the rebellion continue? Will Katniss and Peeta get revenge? Catching Fire is one of my all time favorite books and I would rate it a 5/5. I would recommend this to any reader that is looking for a good book. Collins descriptions and imagery help to portray a vivid picture of what's happening within the book. It is very easy to get sucked into the wording and not want to put the book down. She creates a smooth transition from one book to another and is constantly sparking curiosity upon the reader. This book also helps to connect to real world problems within the government and rebellions that are occurring within different communities today. It also helps to inspire others that they can stand up against the bad guy and create a better and bright life for themself. This book is a very memorable read and also has movies to watch after you are done and more books in the series. I would very highly recommend this series and Suzanne Collins to a reader in need of a book that they feel like they cannot put down.
