The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (4/5)

The Inheritance Games is a young adult mystery and thriller, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes that follows Avery Grambs, a high school student who unexpectedly inherits a large fortune from the billionaire Tobias Hawthorne. As Avery navigates her new life, she becomes entangled with the Hawthorne family, especially the four grandsons, each with their own motives and mysteries. The story unfolds through a mix of twists, and games, as Avery tries to uncover why she was chosen to inherit the fortune.

Barnes’s writing style is engaging and fast-paced, which makes it hard to put the book down. The blend of mystery, family drama, and a bit of romance created a perfect balance that kept me hooked. Every twist and turn felt well-planned, and just when I thought I had it figured out, Barnes would throw in another surprise.

The dialogue flows naturally, and the character development is spot on. I absolutely loved The Inheritance Games. I was drawn into the intriguing world of Avery Grambs, because she was relatable and resourceful. Each character is distinct and intriguing, bringing their own layers of complexity to the plot. The dynamics between the Hawthorne grandsons; Grayson, Jameson, Nash, and Alexander added depth to the narrative. Each brother has a distinct personality and hidden motives, making the family’s relationships complex and fascinating. Grayson Hawthorne is the brooding, serious one, while Jameson is charming and a bit reckless. Their interactions with Avery are very intriguing, keeping me invested in their evolving relationships. The Hawthorne mansion is like a character in itself, rich with secrets and hidden clues that made me feel like I was part of the game. The estate is filled with traps, puzzles, and riddles left behind by Tobias Hawthorne, which adds an excitement to the story.

Overall, The Inheritance Games is a thrilling book that combines clever puzzles with rich character development. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys a good mystery with intrigue. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging and fun escape into a world of secrets and adventure.
