The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien (5/5)

The Lord of the Rings is set in the mythical land of Middle-Earth, and focuses on a hobbit named Frodo Baggins. Frodo lives a content life with the other hobbits, smallish people who keep to themselves and ignore news of the outside world. One day, however, Frodo learns of a secret: the seemingly harmless ring that was given to him by a relative holds great power. Frodo then must go on a journey to destroy the ring - and quickly, or else the hobbits may not live quiet lives much longer.

I enjoyed the book. It’s a bit slow at parts, and requires a lot of memorization to fully understand, but is very well written and immersive.

I would recommend the book to anyone with the time and patience to get through it all. Chances are you’ve seen the movie based on it, but the book has many parts that were dropped from the film. The book is technically a sequel to The Hobbit, so reading it may make your understanding of this book easier, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
