The maze Runner by James Dashner(5/5)

In The maze runner, Thomas, the main character, is trapped inside a box that is  moving with no light. When the box stops moving, Thomas is greeted by many young boys. Thomas, along with all of the other boys on the first day, does not remember anything. Not even his first name. Nobody remembers anything about their past life or anywhere they had been before. Throughout the book, Thomas starts to remember his past life, unlike anybody else there. Big walls that can move and open surround the area where they live. Outside of the walls is a maze, with part-animal, part-machine creatures that are hostile towards people. Everyone Thomas is with has been trying to solve the maze for 2 years. They have never found an exit. They explore the maze by sending out runners that map out the whole maze so they know where they have been before. As soon as Thomas saw the runners, he had a weird feeling that he needed to become one. Throughout the book, Thomas made many friends and enemies. The general storyline of the book is that they find out they are in a maze surrounded by deadly animals, and then they have to find out a way to solve the maze and escape. At one point, another person in the box comes up, and everyone realizes that it is a girl. In the maze there have only ever been boys and now, right after Thomas came, there was a girl. Everyone thought Thomas had something to do with it and caused a big dilemma in the book. In my opinion, this is one of the best books I have ever read. It has so many plot twists and a great storyline. I liked the book so much that I watched the movie which was also great. I also loved the theme of the book. It was an apocalyptic type of book because outside of the maze, there was a disease called the flare, taking over people's body’s. The movie was also a lot different than the book, but was also just as good.  Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes apocalyptic and sci - fi books. I would recommend reading the book first, and then watching the movie.
