“The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not” (Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus). A mysterious circus appears that opens at sunset it is full of spectacular and magical tents but is the magic just an illusion? The Night Circus is a book full of creativity and beauty. Two magicians make a bet about their apprentices and they create a circus to be the battlefield for their game. The book follows multiple plots from different characters’ perspectives. Weaving together a complex plot revolving around the circus. You get to see the splendor of the circus following the character of Bailey. He is obsessed with the circus and his curiosity shows us the splendor of the black and white circus to its fullest. Celia illustrates the intense training she experienced as a child under a famous stage magician Prospero the Enchanter. As her competitor, Marco has a much different but just as terrible time training under a strange man in a grey suit. This book is filled with creativity and subtlety the romance was a bit distracting for me. if you like romance and magic then this is the book for you.
