This book is the story of a 12-year-old girl named Nisha who is half Hindu and half Muslim when India and Pakistan were splitting into separate countries in 1947. She lives with her father and cook and grandmother because her mother died, and the book is her writing letters in a diary about what’s going on to her mom. I didn’t understand why this was supposed to be a good book. I thought it was very repetitive and boring because basically all Nisha is doing is writing letters to her mother who isn’t alive to read them. The same ideas are repeated over and over again and it isn’t as educational as it looks because it’s told in the perspective of a 12-year old who doesn’t know what’s going on most of the time, and she usually is only talking about her family. I don’t suggest reading this book because it isn’t entertaining or good, but some may like it.
