Overall, this book follows the main character Meredith, her extended family, and what went on at their annual vacation to Martha’s vineyard. With her sister recently passing away the whole family has to work through their difficult emotions and navigate how to still enjoy their trip together, even with a missing piece. The story follows the main character through falling in love, exploring what her future will look like, making new connections, and connecting with her family members. It starts off with everyone freshly arriving at the vineyard excited to spend time with family, but also facing grief from losing someone. This year was especially special because one of the family members was getting married and brought along the whole groomside to join with the family for the time before the wedding. Near the beginning the main character, Meredith, meets one of the boys from the groom's side and starts to hangout with him. As it progresses we are introduced to the families annual game of assassin, using secret notes, alliances, and water guns, with a single winner at the end. While the game continues Meredith has the hopes of winning the game to keep the legacy of her sister alive. While doing this she starts to get close with the boy she had met and as time goes on they fall in love with each other. Meredith faces challenges with reconnecting with family members she ghosted after her sister's death, as well as the worries she has of her future choices. On top of this the end of the story portrays her finding more peace in her life and future, and finding room to include someone else and where the story could take them. I think that this book was pretty good and definitely good for a read that is not too intense. Personally I prefer a more action packed story line next to a romance, but for those who find a simple romance entertaining, I would recommend it. I would rate this book a 3/5 because I think it was good but it was not my favorite.
