This intriguing novel is about two teenagers, Daniel and Natasha, that mysteriously meet on the bustling streets of New York. The pair of teenagers are quite opposites, Daniel wants to be a poet while Natasha wants to be a scientist, but opposites attract. Daniel makes it his mission for Natasha to fall in love with him like how he fell in love with her. But, Natasha doesn’t believe in love. Natasha also failed to tell Daniel that she will be deported to Jamaica in just a few hours. Natasha finally gives in to the passion of their relationship and reveals her situation to Daniel. Daniel is not very happy with this turn of events, but Natasha is not very happy with his reactions. So, the lovers split into the big city. But something achs in their mind that they need to find each other again. The novel takes the reader through the emotional rollercoaster that these lovers are. The author of this book does an amazing job of conveying the intense and passionate emotions of the teenagers in this book. My overall reaction to this book was fairly good. I felt the real emotional value that was successfully embedded into the characters’ dialog and the significant stories of even the side characters. I think the book was very well written with the emotions of the reader and the characters in mind. Throughout the whole book, the readers can really feel the plot and character development as their relationship grows and as the story progresses. I also feel it really captivates the feeling of the different families and how they may keep them apart. The novel also does a great job of expressing the struggles of the young adults. For example, throughout the book, the readers learn more about Natasha's relationship with her father and Daniel's relationship with his brother. Through the development, we learn about the reasons Natasha isn’t close with her father and the tragic events that made her family be discovered by immigration control. As for Daniel, we don’t learn all too much about he and his brother's relationship. But, this really develops his character in a way. What I mean by this is that because we do not know much about what landed Daniel and his brother Charlie in their toxic relationship, we notice that Daniel, in reality, probably had not much to do with his brother’s hate towards Daniel, himself, and Daniel’s life. Overall, these aspects of suspense and development are what make the novel well-written and intriguing. Ultimately, m ideas about this book are plain and simple, it is a good read but at first, it may be difficult to get into. The beginning starts out painfully slow but rapidly picks up almost right away. My advice for future readers of this fantastic novel would be to stick with it. As said before, the beginning starts out very slow, leaving the reader to wonder if it is actually worth reading. But trust me, it is. This book is an amazing read for all age levels, whether you are the same age as the characters, younger, or even older, this fantastic novel will captivate almost every age and reading level.
