Turtles All the Way Down by John Green (4/5)

There’s a saying, “Turtles All the Way Down”, which is just a humorous way of speaking about infinite regression. Turtles All Way Down by John Green is a stand-alone young adult mystery novel published in 2017 set in Indianapolis about a 16-year-old girl, Aza Holmes, who has an anxiety disorder and OCD and struggles with her thoughts taking over her. She has a hard time every day with her anxiety because of struggles in her life. But one day, a billionaire who owns Pickett Engineering goes missing due to allegations of fraud. Her best friend, Daisy, wants her to help her find him and wants the $100,000 reward. This book overall was a good read because it was exciting and adventurous, and there was a plot twist around every corner. The characters all had very interesting personalities and character traits. This was a very good example of what people with anxiety and OCD have to go through daily. This book is told from the perspective of Aza and details her day-to-day struggles with controlling her anxiety and is very provocative. The reason this book was given a ⅘ was there were some details I thought could have been left out of the story that were unnecessary, and there were a few sections of chapters that weren’t as entertaining as I would have liked. However, I’m still glad I read this as it was both educational and entertaining. If you are a fan of young-adult novels and mysteries, you’ll enjoy this novel. Overall, this is an exciting mystery book that will keep you on edge in every chapter!
