Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (4/5)

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover gives insight into the struggles of recovering from trauma and healing your ability to be in relationships with others. Tate falls for her brothers friend but because of his past issues he doesn’t allow himself to open up to her. Instead they create rules that only set barriers between them. When he finally realizes that it isn’t good for him he has to find a way to move on and forgive himself so that he is able to heal. Its a journey between two people and it connects to others of her books if you read them. I would recommend this read as it is a slow burn love story however it does deal with some serious topics. The overall story is quite compelling and its interesting to see the journey and the parallels between a young and older Miles that the split perspective and time differences her book gives. One of the only faults of this book is how slow it is which leaves the ending and resolution feelings almost rushed. If you’re okay with this sort of slow burn I would recommend this as a more serious but still fun and romantic read.
