Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (4/5)

Unravel Me by Tarereh Mafi is an electric second book of the Shatter Me series. If you are unfamiliar with the first book, Shatter Me, it is about a 17-year-old girl named Julliete, who can kill a person just by touching them. At the start of the book, she is still new to Omega Point, the secret organization filled with people who have supernatural abilities, which is planning to destroy the Reestablishment and restore peace to the world. She spends her days moping around and worrying about Adam, who is out of the hospital but still not his best until Kenji (an important member of Omega Point) shows her what she can do to help the people of Omega Point by making her realize how valuable her powers are. They train and plot extensively for war against the reestablishment, but their plans happen much sooner than they imagined. Aaron Warner, the merciless Chief Commander of sector 45, who also has immunity to Julietes touch, figured out the plans of Omega Point and invited his father, Paris Anderson, the Supreme Commander of the North American Division to put a halt to all of them. There were many casualties in this war, and many people of Omega Point were taken hostage. Juliette discovers who she truly is in this book, and that she cannot spend her entire life feeling sorry for herself, that she can embrace her powers to do good in the world. She also finds herself falling for the enemy, Aaron Warner, who has a soft spot for her and her only. There is a magnetic connection between the two, which is on another level than what she had with Adam. There were many plot twists inside this book, I would often catch myself with my jaw completely dropped. When I finished this book, it left me feeling both motivated and speechless. This book was very slow at first, but as it went on, more events happened and it went much faster. All in all, I highly recommend this book/series to young adults who love science fiction/dystopia.
