History could be said to be a tale as old as time. The tales of the old and the results of the new. From the Marxists to the communist and the commoners from the aristocrats. Although it is non-fiction it felt like fiction, the war, battles, losses and wins. You could feel each grievances and emotions through all the words. The story started with the famine and hunger from the black plaque, the starvation that emptied the stomachs of the peasants of the time. Then, the enlightenment brought reason and thinking to the minds of the people. This would be the start to the intellectual revolution of the time. Inventions such as mathematics, the sphericalness of the earth and the incorporation of agriculture. Then the spiritual revolutions followed, the advent of new ideas that were forming from the minds of radicals led to the purification of the church and new ways for people to express themselves with different beliefs. Next, the increase in balance of power that kept the countries in check, and new nationalism shifted the eyes of the people from the monarchs of their countries. Following, the creation of the industrial revolution engulfed the world in a rapid storm of faster working conditions and the growing strength of the capitalist regime. This period was the most intriguing because of its striking resemblance to the world we live in today. Finally, the massacres of the first and second world wars which changed the inner-working of the world and exacerbated the technological advances from the industrial revolution. These periods were the grounds for the world we live in today. From the problems with the carbon emissions to the breaking grounds of the weekend and leisure. These sequence of events were the reasons for why we are here today. This is what was so intriguing for me and what led me to spread the world of this book. The information is also laid out in a fashionable manner which the information packed so densely it would easily fill the minds of a student. I truly recommend this book for anyone interested in the start of the American world from their creators and for people who are interested in any innovations that we take for granted today. There is still more history to happen and people who read this book are ahead from learning from the past. From readers to creators, with the knowledge of history, we are able to change it as well.
