White Fang by Jack London (5/5)

The Novel White Fang by Jack London begins with two men who had to go through the wild struggling with the dogs to survive. Later, they came to realize that they were being followed by a pack of wolves who happened to end up killing the dogs. After a few more struggling days, the wolves kill one of the men. The other gets saved by a few other men that were traveling. The story then goes to a she wolf and her partner and they split from the pack. They find a cave and the wolf has a litter of puppies. The male could not find enough food so the puppies died. But only one survives, named white fang. The male also gets killed while hunting for food. He finds a camp where his old owner is in. He lived there but humans separated the wolf from her pup and the story shifts again to the point of view of the pup. White fang is bullied in the camp but he eventually learns to counterattack and even kill other dogs. White fang is then taken to Fort Yukon with his owner and he gets convinced to enter White fang in a dog fighting competition. White fang also won a couple of battles but later on a bulldog overpowered him and he was saved by a man named Weedon Scott. Weedon Scott tamed White fang and they moved to California where they were living in peace. I think it was a great book for interesting character development and a truly fascinating storyline. It was a unique story and showed much themes and deeper messages on animal abuse and explored many ethics. The novel also discusses relationships between people and animals, underlining some concepts of compassion and empathy. In summary, this is one of my most favorite books. This book is interesting to read and suits all age groups. The themes of survival, loyalty, and preference for natural connection in the novel speak to popular factors that I enjoyed. I would surely recommend London's novel depicting the adventure of a small cup forced to find his way in the world.
