The Wild Bird written by Wendelin Van Draanen is a fiction book, and The primary idea of Wild Bird is that everybody can change their ways of living and improve themselves, no matter how far they have fallen. The story starts with a girl named Wren, a fourteen-year-old girl. Who was involved with certain people who caused her to make bad decisions since she had a tough time saying no, once her parents found out about all the trouble she was getting into, and how she was lying to them about all the drugs she was doing and selling for her friend. they try to help by sending her to an 8-week camp in Utah that helps troubled teens like her. This causes her to have a lot of anger against her parents and everyone else who sent her there. But the longer she stays at the camp she realizes that it wasn't any of their faults and that she needs to turn her life around to make it better for her and everyone else in her life. This book is very memorable because I believe many people can relate to this book in many ways such as having troubles at a young age or just having trouble fitting in with the people around you. I agree with the way the author goes in-depth when describing all the feelings when the wren felt betrayed, and when she felt fulfilled with her awakening to what she should have done. But I do disagree with how young Wren was when this story took place. Since it is very hard to get in those situations when you are only 14 years old, she would only be a middle schooler at that age. There are many possibilities this book suggests such as the length of forgiveness a person is willing to give and the amount of love a person can provide for another. The book leaves out rejection from parents which happens a lot in stories like this. The book Call of the Wild is an amazing book that presents all the hardships and wonders of a troubled teen named Wren.
