Two high schoolers in two separate worlds. Landon Carter, the popular and arrogant troublemaker. Jamie Sullivan, an outcast and the minister’s daughter. Their worlds meet when Landon finds himself stuck performing in a school play with Jamie. Spending more and more time together, Landon ends up falling for her as he begins to realize that Jamie is changing him and his outlook on the world around him. At first, he denies his feelings because he feels confused and unsure of Jamie’s feelings toward him. He comes to accept it when he sees her on stage in the Christmas play, realizing how beautiful and enchanting this girl is. As both of them find out about their love for each other, a tragic turn reveals itself, tearing them apart. Landon tries to find all that he can do to help Jamie for the time she has by fulfilling her list of wishes Jamie aims to accomplish before she dies. Her number one is to witness a miracle. Landon couldn’t help feeling regret and guilt when he couldn’t give Jamie the one thing she wanted. As time passes, he comes to see that he was her miracle. I watched the movie before reading the book and fell in love with it. I decided to read the book and I really enjoyed the storyline because it was different from the movie. The author did a really good job of capturing the emotions of the characters and creating a really deep, emotional mood for the audience, making me more engrossed in the novel. I recommend this to readers who enjoy a touching and also heartbreaking love story.
