And Then There Were None (3/5)

Ten people; seven strangers, a secretary, and a married couple all get an invitation from Una Nancy Owen. This invitation invited them to a mansion on an isolated island that would open up new opportunities for them. Though the people barely knew Una Nancy Owen, they couldn’t resist the temptation of a vacation or business opportunity. When they get to this island, they realize that it did not have what they expected. The disappointment that they got from the island made everyone want to leave, just to find out the boat had already left, and they were stuck there for the next few days. After a few hours on the island, they all enter the mansion, they meet at a dinner table that had ten Indian figures in the center of it. They gathered at the table to get to know each other and bond. Randomly, they were surprised when they heard something that wasn’t coming from the other strangers, but rather, noise from the intercom. They make out the noise to be a voice, listing all of the murders that the strangers have committed without being punished. After this, they were all sent to trial to defend themselves. When they go back to their rooms, they were all given a poem that predicts how each person will die. Every other day someone would die in accordance to the poem without knowing who exactly will die next. When one person dies, a figure from the table is taken away. After the third death, people realized that there has to be someone committing these murders. There were no other people on the island, so it could be assumed that the killer is one of the strangers. Everyone had to work together to figure out who the killer was, while the killer had to keep a fake identity to fit in with them. Every time someone suspects anything about the murderer, gives clues toward who the murderer is, or reasons why someone would be the murderer, they would get killed quickly after. In the end, the predicaments of the poem come true and everyone passes accordingly. I enjoyed reading it, but the book was not for me. Initially, it interested me but as I read on it just started getting boring in my opinion. I think those that enjoy crime and mystery genres will enjoy this book. Overall, I think that the book was a bit anti-climactic and confusing. I would advise keeping all of the small details in mind because many things predict other events that will happen in the future.
