Digital Fortress by Dan Brown (5/5)

The book Digital Fortress by Dan Brown is perfect for someone that wants a thrilling novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat while reading it. Dan Brown is known for his thriller novels, his most popular series being his Robert Langdon books. After reading the majority of his hair-raising novels, Digital Fortress has to come in first place due to the technological aspects in it. Because the novel is themed around government monitoring and not so ethical resolutions. Dan Brown portrays his work with such persuasive diction that it tricks you into thinking that perhaps Digital Fortress could be not sci-fi. It has you questioning if the reality is that the government is surveying our everymove, everything we look up, and knows even our most private, digital, and encrypted secrets. If you are someone like me, someone who has an interest or passion in anything computer science related, or even just a really good thriller with an unpredictable outcome, I would recommend this book to you. When the head cryptographer from the NSA, Susan Fletcher, is alone with her boss and their code-breaking machine, TRANSLTR, the machine comes across a mystifying code it cannot break. This book not only includes high tech and coding scenarios, it also shows the adventures and hardships Susans’ fiance faces while trying to find the key to unlock the code while being hunted with the intent to be killed. If he cannot find the key and proffer it to the NSA in a restricted time everybit of crucial information TRANSLTR holds will become public. I had to read this book twice to be able to fully process everything due to its complexity. If you’re not a person that is fond of long books that you really need to think about, Dan Brown may not be the author for you. All of his novels are brain twisters, and make you re-evaluate everything you know. Digital Fortress is very electrifying, thrilling, and complex. Going into such a complicated book you must have an open mind for what you’re going to read and process. All in all Digital Fortress is a very captivating and thrilling book for a mature audience.
