First looks can be deceiving. It is shown in the book, Lies You Never Told Me by Jennifer Donaldson. In Texas, Gabe is starting to notice how manipulative and controlling his girlfriend is. In Oregon, Elyse is tired of her mother always depending on her to take care of everything a 17-year old shouldn’t be doing. Gabe felt like his life was becoming duller each day until he meets this girl named Catherine. Catherine seems like she is trying to blend in and not attract attention, it almost seems like she trying to hide a secret. Elyse is tired of juggling anvils with all the responsibilities that have been shoved onto her. Gabe and Elyse seem like they have nothing in common, but they both share this major similarity; they both fell for the wrong person, and they fell hard. I really liked this book because at the beginning I was wondering why they would show these two random characters. Once I got close to the end, there was a major plot twist that made me gasp out loud. It had a lot of thrills and I never once got bored of reading it. I would give this book a 5/5 just because once I started reading, I couldn’t stop.
