One of Us Is Next, is the sequel to the book One of Us is Lying, by Karen M. Mcmanus. One of Us Is Next is about a texting game called Truth or Dare which is inspired by Simon Kellehers gossip website, About That, where students of Bayview High are sent anonymous truth or dare texts. The students who ignore these messages from the anonymous texter get a secret of theirs spilled to all the students of Bayview high. The Bayview High students who are prone to gossiping enjoy and feed into this texting game. 3 Bayview high students, Phoebe Lawton, Knox Myers, and Maeve Rojas band together to try and find out who is behind the screen that is ruining people’s social lives. Everything takes a turn for the worst when the consequences of this Truth or Dare game become fatal, and the students are left to try and find out who this anonymous gossiper is as chaos rises in Bayview. This book is a humorous but shocking thriller, and has many unexpected plot twists that kept me on my toes. I love how the book gives all the main characters their own point of view, which allows deeper understanding of the characters, and brings them to life giving them all a backstory. I would say this is one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read! I do think that the plot started off a little slow and is a little rushed toward the end, but other than that, the book is great and I recommend it to all the people out there who love mysteries and thrillers. One of us is Next is similar to other stellar books like A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, Good Girl Bad Blood, and As Good As Dead, all by Holly Jackson, along with other amazing reads from other authors. For all the people thinking about reading this book, make sure to be ready for shock, happiness, anger, excitement, tears, and more. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and I hope anyone reading this book review has the pleasure of reading it in the future!
