Pride and Prejudice is about the love story between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth is the second oldest of the five Bennet sisters and is part of the middle class. Her status eventually becomes a big issue when the rich Mr. Darcy starts to like her after their first encounter. On his end, the whole story is pining, he liked her since day one but was hesitant due to her social class. But for Elizabeth, she and the whole town found him to be incredibly arrogant and rude. She had no interest in even talking to him let alone marrying him and this disdain was deepened when she realized that Mr. Darcy had ruined her sisters’ marriage with another Socialite, Mr. Bignley. Over the course of the story, we learn more and more about Mr. Darcy and grow to understand him. I loved this book so much because all of the characters felt so real. The dynamic between the sisters is great and the mother's theatricality mixed with Mr. Darcy's social anxiety made for some great dialogue. This book is the one “classic” that I've been able to finish. Its messages are clear but not completely shoved in your face and seeing people go from hating to love each other is entertaining. I would say everyone should at least give this story a shot and if it's not their cup of tea, at least watch the movie.
