In the book, The Inheritance Games, the author Jennifer Lynn Barnes writes the main character Avery Grambs, a sixteen-year-old girl who tries to survive high school and make a living for herself. When she learns of her half-sister, Libby’s abusive boyfriend moving back in, she decides to live in her broken-down car despite the challenges. Circumstances change when she inherits 46 billion dollars from Tobias Hawthorne, a rich philanthropist with joy for playing games. The only catch is she must live in the Hawthrone House for a year alongside puzzling men with the expectation of their grandfather’s estate, the Hawthorne grandsons. Through riddles and secret passages of her mansion will she answer the puzzle waiting to be solved.
My overall reaction to this book was that it was a thrilling novel to read. The details given for each riddle were very distinct as well as the clues are given. I rate this book a solid 4/5 because it was enjoyable to read, but not the best that I have read. Conclusively, I really recommend this book to others just as it was suggested to me.
