The novel, The Promise, starts off with a women, Amy Breslyn, who is an engineer, specifically in the chemical production, was reported missing after the cops and others discovered that she stole $460,000 from her company and purchased a new gun as well. Elvis Cole and his partner Joe Pike as well as James, whom they encounter when they investigate a case where a man is beaten in his own house. In the book, surprisingly Amy is trying to get close to arms-dealers, trying to find who is the culprit of her son’s murder. After the incident that Echo Park, they see that Mr. Rollins is behind the dead body on the ground and Mr. Rollins does not like leaving any witnesses behind and is then on the run trying to track down Scott and Maggie but Cole is being tracked by the police and they are forced to join forces and in the end, the women they are keeping safe tries to kill them. This book was an exciting read overall, the thrill and the suspense lured me in and it was exciting, the false identities and the lying added more thrill, turning the book into like a big whole clue where the audience could tie the pieces together and overall it was action packed as well, providing for more real life connection to the many wars that are happening here. The ideas were good providing a solid first, middle and last structure that every book has but it has a great conclusion, leaving the audience surprised and in some sort, a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to others because it does show the chaos that happens even in our country where, there are many violent actions that people choose to make and this just skyrockets more and more when more people are involved as The Promise shows when dealing with arm’s dealers, this is a great book for new readers to read. This book opened me to the many crimes that take place in the world today as well as the wars on the borders like Jordan and what’s happening in Palestine but, it is a great book for new readers, giving them more ideas as well as having a great thrilling read.
