How would you feel if your life was a romance, a mystery, and an overwhelming “thought spiral”?
Turtles All The Way Down is a good novel to read when you like young adult novels or anything written by John Green. This book was well-written, quite interesting, and not a boring novel. The readers understand how to deal with mental health struggles, the loss of family members, and treating a friend.
Aza has a problem with her mental health, she feels alone and like her insides are always eating her alive. Her best friend, Daisy, writes star wars fan fiction and feels like the world revolves around her. Davis is a boy who Aza always had feelings for, but his dad is missing and she needs to be there for him.
The main character of Turtles All The Way Down is 16 year old Aza who suffers from anxiety and OCD. The story focuses on Aza’s progression of her relationship with billionaires son, Davis Pickett while investigating his father’s disappearance. Turtles All The Way Down is one of John Green’s novels that exemplifies friendship, love, loss, mystery, and loneliness in a 16-year-old high schooler’s life.
There are many scenes with Aza and Davis, Daisy, and her mother, however, we needed more information of how Aza felt about Davis’s father and wanted to find him. It’s never known what actually happened to Mr. Pickett, so the reader just has to assume what happened even when a large point of the novel is about Mr. Pickett’s disappearance. Would I recommend this novel? Yes, however, I recommend it for the readers who like young adult novels and novels people can relate to. If you want to learn more about people who struggle with mental health or who have lost a loved one, this is a good novel to read to understand the emotions and thoughts people go through.
